Join Waste Free Greenwich for the 4th annual ReThink Waste Fair, an engaging, family friendly event to explore ways to rethink waste through the 6 R’s: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair and Rot.
Activities to inspire your waste free lifestyle abound at the fair! Vendors will offer low waste products from reusable wares and vintage clothing to kitchen tools and beauty products, while local community partners will share practical tips and information through hands-on activities and exhibits. Highlights include:
Eco-friendly vendors
Composting display
Arts and crafts activities
Interactive exhibits with local environmental organizations
Vintage fashion show
Book swap
Food demo with a local chef
And that's not all... Visit the Reuse Box Truck at the fair and meet reuse expert Alex Eaves from Escape the Waste! Discover how this little house and education center employed reuse for every step of the construction process - from the truck and building materials to the decorations and mere screws - and how "we can help our planet, our community, and even our personal and financial well-being." Sponsored by Greenwich Academy.
The First Selectman and town officials will issue an Earth Day Proclamation, and the Greenwich Sustainability Committee will announce the recipients of its Sustainability Awards.
RECYCLING DRIVE
The fair also features a drive for a host of hard to recycle items. Waste Free Greenwich is also collecting unopened, unexpired food donations and personal care products for Neighbor to Neighbor. Here’s a full list of materials for the drive with links to recycling partners and guidelines for donation. Note: we cannot accept any items that do not follow guidelines.
Batteries (household - no automotive)
Books: bring 2-3 for our book exchange; remaining books will be donated to Books4Everyone
